Early in his advertising career a prospect called back to cancel an appointment Higgins had set for the Automotive Advertising Agency he had just started working for. “The auto dealer had 5 stores and was going to meet with us, but after being “directed” to the agency website they called back to cancel. They couldn’t find the site on their own, and after I gave them the url, they didn’t like what they saw.”
Having very little experience with microsites or SEO, Higgins got permission to build another site. “I purchased a domain that ‘contained’ the most important keyword phrase for our business. I then designed a second website with SEO in mind for business development. Today sites like these are known as microsites. “The first microsite I ever built got a First Page, Position 1 on Google and other SERP’s within 90 days and held that position for 5 years. Higgins gifted that site to the owner upon his resignation. Today the site and former company can no longer be found, a result of the economic collapse, but the lesson had been learned.
